The Namo Drone Didi Scheme is undertaken by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), Government of India. The scheme is part of an initiative which will empower women by providing them with opportunities to become certified drone pilots, contributing to the growing drone industry in India. This program is also associated with the government’s efforts to promote skill progress and women’s involvement in the aviation and technology sectors.

In India, to enroll in a drone pilot course, candidates must be at least 18 years old as per the regulations. Additionally, a minimum of 10th-grade or equivalent certification is required to become a drone pilot. When applying for the course, applicants must ensure they have all the necessary documents ready.

YES, becoming a drone pilot is a  promising career option in India. The drone industry is rapidly growing in various sectors, like agriculture, infrastructure, film and media, surveillance, logistics etc. With the government's support to drone technology through initiatives like the Drone Shakti and Namo Drone Didi Scheme there are huge opportunities for individuals trained in drone piloting.

The Drone Didi Yojana (also known as the Namo Drone Didi Scheme) is primarily focused on empowering women by providing them with the opportunity to become skilled drone pilots. The key eligibility criteria for this scheme are:

  1. Gender: The scheme is specifically designed for women who are interested in learning drone piloting and pursuing a career in the drone industry.
  2. Age: Applicants should be at least 18 years old to be eligible for enrollment in the drone training program.
  3. Educational Qualification: A minimum educational qualification of 10th grade (or equivalent) is required.
  4. Residency: Women from across India, particularly those from rural or underrepresented areas, are encouraged to apply, helping promote gender equality in tech and aviation.
  5. Interest and Willingness: The applicant should have a genuine interest in learning drone technology and the willingness to undertake training and pursue a career as a drone pilot.

This initiative, supported by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), aims to increase women's participation in emerging fields like drone technology, offering both skill development and career opportunities.

A remote pilot license is required to operate an unmanned aircraft system. Drones may be operated by a person who is registered on the digital sky platform and holds a valid remote pilot license.
